RAID Array reinitialisation

clients outside the uk

In order that a file system can be installed on the RAID, it first has to be set up by the controller or NAS or other RAID storage device so that it can be recognised.

This is called initialisation / initialization and it entails the RAID device writing a series of codes to each hard disk, identifying it and its location within the array.

A similar process takes place when the RAID is established; the device needs to know if it is RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5 or other compatible configuration, and so marks up each member disk accordingly.

If these parameters are destroyed or become corrupt, all access to the device (and hence the data) will be lost.

The only solution is complicated data recovery and forensics. This is an area where Retrodata have industry-leading experience and skill.
